Flyover Greening, Planting, Cycle Hub and SuDs Consultation

Closed 10 Oct 2018

We want to make the space under the Hammersmith Flyover more pleasant, by reducing air pollution levels and adding plants and greenery. We’d like to make a few small changes that will help improve the look and feel of the area, while also improving air quality by reducing pollution.

As part of our aim to become the greenest borough in Britain, we want to make Hammersmith a ‘Low Emission Neighbourhood’. Our work under the flyover will complement several other innovative projects to improve air quality and make the area a better place to live, work and visit.

We’d like to:

  • Provide green screens under the flyover to help reduce pollution
  • Plant new plants
  • Build a cycle hub to increase the number of bicycle parking spaces and reduce clutter
  • Put rapid-charging points for electric vehicles in Sussex Place Car Park
  • Improve the green space under the flyover outside St. Paul’s School
  • Introduce sustainable drainage to reduce flooding and improve biodiversity
  • Work with local businesses to help them move to less polluting service and delivery vehicles.
