Closed 22 Dec 2021

Opened 1 Dec 2021

We would like your views on our proposal to improve road safety for pupils and parents at Brackenbury Primary School in Dalling Road, Hammersmith.

These works are part of our new Healthy School Streets programme that we’ve launched to help schools in areas of poor air quality and to work towards the council’s pledge to make Hammersmith & Fulham the greenest borough in the country.

What are the proposed changes?

The proposed scheme includes the following changes:

  • Installing new footway buildout with guardrail at Nursery entrance to create safer waiting area for pupils and parents
  • New footway buildout with greening by visitor entrance and greening of existing buildout
  • Paint new ‘20mph’ and ‘Slow’ markings on the road to remind drivers of the speed limit
  • New planting junction of Dalling and Brackenbury Road
  • Update existing raised table on Brackenbury Road
  • Install new pencil bollards across scheme
  • Loss of approx. 3 parking bays in Dallin Road

What are the benefits?

The updated raised table on Brackenbury Road will improve the crossing point for pupils and parents while pencil bollards will help to define the area around the school. New 20mph markings will remind drivers of the speed limit.

The footway buildout outside the Nursery entrance will create extra space to ease congestion at drop-off/pick-up times with a new guardrail to protect pupils from the road. Furthermore, new greening on the existing buildout outside the main entrance, new buildout outside the visitor entrance and along Brackenbury Road will help form a barrier between pupils/parents and vehicle emissions and create a more pleasant environment.

When will the work be carried out?

Following a positive consultation the works are planned to start in early 2022.
